It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support for Zeenia Jagga’s application for the teaching faculty position at South Asian University. I have mentored Zeenia in my professional capacity since her BSc in Medical Technology at PGIMER Chandigarh and have seen her grow from a medical laboratory technologist to biotechnologist to Computational Biologist and then a complete business professional into industry R as a data scientist.
She has been brilliant throughout the academic journey as evident from her gold medals in BSc, MSc. and many scholarship awards like NET, GATE from DBT, UGC, and CSIR. During her PhD, she qualified BINC certification (BioInformatics National Certification examination) conducted by DBT, which clearly testifies her bioinformatics skill. Further, during her current industry experience, she has been awarded best star performer award for the year 2016-2017 where I heard that she was working very closely with the diverse team of medical, scientific, patent attorneys and competitive intelligence.
Her academic training in diverse fields and experience in both academia and industry has given her unique amalgamation to understand the key translational aspects of both experimental as well as theoretical biology. As in the field, I have come to know Zeenia as a person with great talents in the fields of biotechnology and computational biology with the ability to understanding and explaining the rich and often complex relationship between these two fields.
She is full of enthusiasm, has the right drive, and genuine interest in teaching. She expresses her opinions in an engaging way and enjoys being challenged. She strives for originality, works hard and has a charisma for drawing others to work as a team. I am certain that with her passion, as well as her extensive knowledge, she would deliver captivating lectures to students who take her cutting-edge courses.
I would strongly recommend her for the teaching position of assistant professor at South Asian University.
